Hi, I’m Sarena (she/her), a 23-year-old, bisexual, Filipina visual, artist based in California. (Also, I have ADHD) I founded CreateSpace Community to reach out to creatives like me (aka queer, poc, nd) and of course other marginalized communities like the disabled community to "create-space" for people like us, in  a world where capitalism burns us out first and affects us the worst.

Navigating a world that was not built for us is hard to do alone and I know that through personal experience. In my journey trying to find meaning in the work that I do and also keep the lights on in my apartment, it has been my experience to work 40 hours a week at a tiring and for-profit minimum wage job and then spend the rest of my days and weekends toiling away on maintaining my "art-business". This enormous energy output to minimal results ratio was so out of proportion with what I could actually sustain and I had decided that enough was enough— and I know that's the case for many of you too.

So here's my larger contribution to the world. I still have to work just like everybody else and not much else has changed in my life, but I hope that this project has a positive impact on people. Plus, CreateSpace Community is a reminder to me of what I really value in the world— and I hope it can be that for you too.
